February 03, 2020

Have you noticed more breakage, split ends, dry ends and knots that do not come out?

They said that hair should be trimmed at least every 8 to 12 weeks. But it’s that applicable for you?

Regular haircuts help keep your hair strong and healthy. No one is exempt from having split ends and hair breakage. Exposure to chemicals and elements, daily wear and tear, and just hair getting old can all be rough on the ends of your hair since the ends are the oldest part of the hair strand.

It's important to know that hair grows on an average of a 1/2-inch every week. However, some people's hair grows a little faster than others.

So the answer depends on type, length, and texture of your hair.

  • For Long Hair

Long hair is very old. Normally is more prone for breakage and split ends. The older you hair, the more fragile it becomes. Long hair can be trimmed every 8 to 12 weeks. It can be looked thinner, so to make it stronger once you noticed some breakage ask your stylist to trim your hair. This can also be applied to medium length hair.

  • For Short Hair

If you want to look fresh and maintain short hair, you can trim it regularly. For keeping a good shape of your hair, it is okay to cut it every four to eight weeks.

  • For Fine Hair

Trimming fine hair is crucial. Split ends can make tresses look thin and frail. You can go to your stylist to trim your hair every 5 weeks. Because once the end of your hair splits, hey continue to unravel up the hair shaft, and it will split much more rapidly.

  • For Curly Hair

When it starts to tangle, it means the end of your hair starts to split and knot each other. If you hardly combing your tangled hair that will make your hair even more damaged. For curly hair, it can be cut up to eight weeks. But again, one rule could not be applicable to all. Learn to listen to your hair and decide when it’s the right time to trim it.

  • For Coily Hair

Coily hair is one of the more fragile curly types because it tends to be on the thinner side. It can go a little bit longer as every 8-12 weeks. But you need to give your coily care proper care.

Don’t wait to see the damage before you cut your processed hair. Trimming it should be done regularly, to prevent over-drying and breakage.

For many relationships, the pandemic has brought about a strain on our relationships.

It could be the slowing down of life and couples having to spend more time with each other learning each other’s pattern outside of the “after work” let’s grab something to eat and go to bed pattern.

It could also be a job cut and/or a decrease in one’s scheduled hours (if you are experiencing this my heart is with you and I pray your situation improves soon).

The truth is we can continue to watch the chaos of our lives unfold, tearing our relationship apart day after day while we live in misery and do nothing about it, or we could make small changes daily to improve the relationship with our spouses.

  1. Me-Time

Pamper yourself and give your body a special treatment. These are natural ways to relieve stress and feel relaxed. As Audre Lorde said, “Caring for myself is not self-indulgence, it is self-preservation, and that is an act of political warfare.”

Your age, job, and stage don’t matter, everyone deserves self-care. During your me-time, you can do some meditation, have a massage, warm baths, deep condition your hair and skin.
